The Crete
Writing Workshop
Want to learn writing from the pro's in a sublime location? Consider this excellent 10-day June crash course on the island of Crete. The Crete Writing Workshop, held annually at the Regional Press Institute in Chania, Crete, Greece (map), combines writing workshops with lectures and discussions of the food, culture and the environment of the Mediterranean. Led by Professor Louis Ureneck, chairman of the Journalism Department in the College of Communication at Boston University, workshop faculty encourages students to take down the barriers to writing and write freely and toward discovery, exploring structure, focus, the practice of drafting and the art of revision. The workshop goals are development of the writer’s voice and production of publishable work. Participants are free to choose their writing topics, or they may bring writing projects that already are underway. The program’s daily excursions offer unique experiences of the indigenous nature and culture of Crete to inspire the creative spirit of the participants. The registration fee for the Crete Writing Workshop includes the workshops and program, accommodations, two meals per day (plus a light breakfast) and participation in the excursions with all expenses paid (transportation, tickets, tour guides). Accommodations are in double rooms, so you can bring another person, whether or not they attend the workshop. Accompanying persons pay a lesser fee that includes accommodations, two meals per day and participation in the excursions. Participation is limited. If you wish to be selected for the program please send your CV and an example of work published or unpublished at creteww@gmail.com. Here's full information: Crete Writers' Workshop |
